DJG

 Chi-Town Track Star

CHICAGO, IL

Born & bred in the Chicago area, 27 year old Rare Breed Records™ Recording Artist DJG has been grooming his skill in this music game for upwards of 10 years.  Interest in performing arts kindled at the tender age of 7.  In his grade school years, DJG (born Daryl Jones Jr.), assumed numerous theatre roles, began writing, and relentlessly pursued every talent show that the young M.C. got wind of.  During this time DJG also joined a local group called Rare Breed™ in which he developed friendships that would prove critical to his career.  High school came with many distractions that caused DJG to stray away from education, values instilled by his parents, and music.  After many brushes with the law and moral battles, those core principles instilled in the young man eventually prevailed and Daryl completed his GED in 2006.  This marked his return to the music grind with a more mature, professional approach and clear vision.

DJG teamed with his father, Daryl “Pops” Jones Sr., as well as long time friends Larry Warren (also affectionately known as “Larry Gordy” and former member of the group Rare Breed™).Since the formation of this powerful business partnership, the DJG machine has consistently put material in the streets.  Daryl has had the opportunity to work with producers Liddel Townsend and Grammy Award Winning Maurice Joshua (Beyonce', Mariah Carey, Celine Dion), up & coming producers Paris Bueller of (Band Kamp) & Rio Mac of (Hustle Sqaud) to name a few. The Chicago buzz exploded with the October 2010 release of the “Back to the Basics” mix tape featuring Chicago’s own WCGI personality V-Dub.

In today’s fast moving market, Rare Breed Record seeks to brand DJG at every opportunity. Since hip hop influences almost everything, we now look to venture into television & video shows. Rare Breed TV is DVD create by Rare Breed Records to get local music to the masses online & in the streets. DJG along with his colleagues are constantly marketing & promoting at the hottest events. (SXSW, NBA All Star Weekend, Concerts, etc.) With this work ethic I have no choice but consider him a power player in Chicago.

DJG has begun to craft what is destined to become an iconic body of work.  This young artist has an immense amount of charisma and has forged pivotal relationships that are sure to help build his promising career.  Friends & colleagues characterize DJG as laid back, down to earth, approachable, & fun.  He is a man with the skill, tenacity & integrity needed for success in his chosen industry.  The growth is evident in his flow, word play, vocabulary, and musicality.  Daryl grew up listening to a diverse pallet of music that included Kool Moe Dee, L.L. Cool J., Common, Tribe Called Quest, Talib Kweli, Tupac, Biggie, Twista, 3 6 Mafia, 8 Ball & MJG, UGK, Nas, Wu Tang, and Jay  Z.   As is evident from the aforementioned list of admired artists, DJG’s sound can be described as a mix of consciousness & gangster injected with a twist of R&B/soul.  “Chi-Town Anthem”, the first single that got the streets talking, is a magnetic tune praising the unique, bitter-sweet aspects of DJG’s hometown.  The latest DJG
